OurNew Building Committee (NBC) is assembled and we need your help. In addition to our regular committed members, our meetings are now flanked with selected professionals from the construction industry. Our civil engineer, who has been onboard since day one, is Barry Caison from Ben Dyer and Associates. Our pre-construction manager is Bill Murray of Conres Contracting, and our newly selected architectural firm is Lawrence Abell & Associates.
We have also added a public relations division chaired by Sis Frances Robinson. Sis Frances will endeavor to keep the congregation fully abreast of all activities surrounding the New Building Committee. This will include, but not be limited to, construction timelines, fundraising campaigns, and promotions. This enormous effort will be achieved through the aid of spotlight moments, printed literature, one-on-one engagements and PowerPoint presentations.
Our successes did not come without some sorrow, however. This year, we lost one of our strongest supporters and great liaisons between GUMC and Chapel Hill Citizens Association. Bobby Campbell took the lead, not only in securing agreements with the Citizens Association, but was instrumental in recommending to us all of the construction professionals selected so far in our building process. He was a man of great wisdom and foresight who will be greatly missed.
Our goal for the remainder of 2017 is to increase the more than $3,000,000 currently in the New Building Fund treasury and to complete all building requirements for submittal to the county by years end. Indeed, God has done great things. And He has ordained us as a people to build his house.
